Pat Martin of the Robert Beck Academy. Fantastic!

Since 1977, she has had many solo exhibitions and has participated in more than sixty group exhibitions, including the James A. Free at last.

Artist: Kathy Ann Finch, Free at Last, 17 x 11", Watercolor.

South of the Holcombe-Jimison Farmstead on the bike path is a pedestrian bridge that crosses over the spillway at Alexaukin Creek. An old stone train track support abutment still stands there and a Canada goose pair return to the same spot on top of it every year to nest. It is literally only a few feet away from where bikers and walkers pass and gawk at the unflappable pair, but just far enough away to be safe. This painting depicts that scene. Momma goose keeping an eye on her freshly hatched gosling.

Thanks Kathy Ann for recording it down on paper in this beautiful rendering. Kathy Ann is a member of the Hunterdon Watercolor Society.

_____________

Right, Artist: Stacie Speer Scott, Liberty Fish, 18 x 28", Collage of objects, paper, paint and fabric applied to acid-free poster board. (Inset detail)

“ I collect fragments of paper, ephemera, objects and segments of my own paintings. When I put the works together it is usually based on relationships that I see between the fragments. The process can sometimes feel like chaos but through drawing, painting, sanding, rolling and encaustic, they come together. It is the journey that I crave. The resulting work of art provides as Julian Levy once wrote “a persuasive, convincing new species, made from the irrational discovery of joining the utterly dissimilar”.

Stacie has been living, working, and creating these wonderfully fascinating works in the Bucks County area since 1980.

Thank you Stacie for assembling this original piece just for us.

The Delaware captured in oil by two (generous) pros.

Left, Artist: Ty Hodanish, Twilight on the River, 18 x 28", Oil painted directly on to acid-free poster board.

One of the area’s most widely recognized artists, Ty paints in the great tradition of the New Hope School of Impressionist painters. Because he paints “Plein Air” (always outdoors), his canvases capture color and light in a fashion that has gained him a reputation as a master colorist.
Devoted to his art, Ty maintains a gallery and open studio at the Prallsville Mill in Stockton. The “Art Colony”, which he founded in 1998, allows him the opportunity to share his colorful technique with others in workshops he conducts in the fall and spring each year, attracting students from far and wide.

Thanks Ty for your great contribution of original art.

Right, Artist: J. Stacy Rogers, Delaware Theatrics, 18 x 28", Oil painted directly on to acid-free poster board.

Art is, first and foremost, about life and more specifically about the dignity, beauty, comedy, tragedy, romance, fantasy, pride and nobility of the human spirit. All the precious and powerful emotions that form and define the human experience.

I am truly blessed to be among the generations of painters who have recorded their time on canvas.
Happily, my paintings have found their way into the homes of a growing list of art lovers and continue to win awards at important juried art exhibitions.

Thanks J. Stacy for a stunning piece.

Myles was one of our first scholarship recipients in 1992, and has submitted this wonderful original painting called “Shad Fisherman”, depicting the familiar scene witnessed by anyone passing over the free bridge this time of year — a lonely boat adrift in the blue early morning light hoping for the catch of the day. Yes, that would be Shad.

Myles' complete bio can be found on his homepage mylescavanaugh.com and is represented by Silverman Gallery in Buckingham, PA.

Thanks Myles. Really Nice!
_____________

Right, Artist: Luiz Vilela, Gentry, as a Fisherman, 18 x 28", Oil painted directly on to acid-free poster board.

Luiz won Best in Show last year for his stunning winter painting of Lewis Island, and First Place the year prior. We were thrilled to receive one of his portraits this year. Luiz seems to do everything amazingly well. Gentry is a friend of Luiz and was excited to see himself portrayed this way, against the backdrop of New Hope, PA, with the seining nets of Lewis Island. So we have a connection between last years and this. This is one of those paintings where the eyes follow you around the room.

Thanks Luiz! We love everything you do.
