Scholarship Tea at Inn of the Hawke

This year our recipients where treated to a lovely tea on the patio at The Inn of the Hawke.
Attending were; Emily Marley and her mother Nora, Emma Warwinsky and Adam Warwinsky and their parents. Also attending were Sponsors from N.T. Callaway Real Estate, Holly Havens and from the Bank of Princeton, Wilson Weed and Mike Johnson. Mayor Dave DelVecchio also attended as well as Carol Cruikshanks, Judy Henn, Ellen Pineno, Christyl Cusworth and Kevin Griffin.

Scholarships Awarded

Here it is. The list of recipients of this year's scholarship award money from the proceeds of the 2011 shadfest poster auction. A total of $30,000. was distributed. Good luck in your creative pursuits students and hope to see you again next year.

Pat Martin of the Robert Beck Academy. Fantastic!

Artist: Pat Martin, Just Passing Through, Oil on board.

My paintings and drawings are about the process of creation and its endless possibilities. I try to merge or partner with a variety of materials and techniques to create my own visual language.

Born and educated in California, Pat Martin moved with her family to the New Hope area in the late 1960s. Since 1977, she has had many solo exhibitions and has participated in more than sixty group exhibitions, including the James A. Michener Art Museum, the Newark Museum, Ellerslie and the Noyes Museum.

Pat is a well loved local artist and is currently an instructor with the Robert Beck Academy here in Lambertville.  Thanks Pat! Look for her on the Buck's County Elephant's Eye Studio Tour in mid May.

Suzanne Douglass. It's arrived.

Famed Lambertville artist, friend, and good neighbor, Suzanne Douglass, has come through for the scholarship fund once again with perhaps one of her best works. Oil on board, 18 x 28" size.

Entitled: Woman. Thank you Suzanne. We love you.

A native of McDonald, Pennsylvania, Suzanne Douglass loved to draw as a child. Educated at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, she also studied with Frank Schoonover and Frank Delle Donne, both of the N.C. Wyeth, Howard Pyle school. Later, she studied with portrait painter, Margaret Yard Tyler at her school in Montclair, New Jersey and had an early, successful career as a commissioned portrait painter.

Artfull Eye Donates Vintage Print of New Hope.

Michael McClintock of Artfull Eye Fine Art and Antiques, and Frame Shop has donated another vintage collectible art piece to this year's auction. (Couldn't fit it on a poster blank so we'll auction it alone).

Artist: Robert Bruce Moyer (1913-1969) was a painter and printmaker in New Hope, PA.
This is a hand-colored print, looking toward the Delaware at the old Martine's building and Farley's book shop c. 1930's. Beautifully graphic in excellent condition. Image area 9 x 12".

Carol Sanzalone.

Artist: Carol Sanzalone. "Lambertville Spring Color", 18 x 28", Acrylic and matted.

Carol is a member of the Artists' Gallery here in Lambertville and has been contributing poster art since the event began in the 1980's. She has exhibited and taught art throughout the Delaware Valley. A former art teacher at South Hunterdon Regional High School, she has also taught at Douglass College and Tyler School of Art.

Born in Midland, North Carolina in 1936, Joseph Barrett was raised on Bentiver, his maternal grandmother's plantation in Profitt, VA. He earned his BFA in painting at the Massachusetts College of Art in Boston, and completed his MFA at the Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia, PA.

Robert Beck.

Robert Beck is a leading Bucks County plein-air painter. He has been awarded dozens of significant regional awards and was invited to present 37 of his works at the James A. Michener Art Museum in 1999, and a 40 painting retrospective at the City Museum of Trenton in 2007. His Gallery and academy in Lambertville is a focal point of the art community.

We were first introduced to Daniel's work at an exhibit at Sam's Spaces, a design center, shop and hangout for art types at 10 Church Street here in Lambertville operated by Arlen Brown, the new ami des arts and girl about town.

Daniel is a graduate of the School of Visual Arts, B.F.A. (with honors). His subjects of choice are the places and people in his life. Vibrant, impressionist, dramatic, abstract, moving. This is the Hot New Artist that is the buzz of the east coast. Here is your opportunity to own an original piece by this skyrocketing talent.

Anne Kullaf studied graphic design and fine art at the University of Bridgeport in Connecticut and at The Art Students League of NY. Her work has been exhibited at the National Arts Club, and was featured in two traveling museum exhibitions, "The New Reality: The Frontier of Realism in the 21st Century” and "400 Years of Dutch History in Manhattan". Additionally, Anne is a faculty member of the Visual Arts Center of New Jersey, the Hunterdon Museum of Art, and the Center for Contemporary Art.
